The New Sunrise Baptist Church started at Spilman Baptist Church on October 2000, with Rev. Miguel Arjon as Pastor from year 2000-2011, Rev. Dr. Abdias Mora from 2011-2014 and Leader Santiago Rojas 2014 until now. The address is 601 Madison Avenue, Kinston 28501. Assistance is currently around 29 people including children. The group is made up of people from different Latin countries including Honduras, El Salvador, Panama and Mexico.
The church is involved in many different ministries and evangelistic activities including: The Migrant Camp at Tull Hill Farms, working along with the Neuse Baptist Association and other area churches since year 2000. It is a great way to share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus bringing hope to these men who are away from their families. This ministry starts every year on the first Monday in June and goes on for 10 weeks. We also share snacks with them.
During the summer the church has what we called “Servicios en Los Hogares” “A Home Church Service” which takes place at each of the church member’s homes. We invite our friends, neighbors and extended family that otherwise will not feel comfortable showing up in church. Another way to share the Word of God, even if they only listen to it this once, the seed is sowed.
The church also participates in the yearly Hispanic Young Adult Conference at Fort Caswell, NC organized by the Baptist State Convention. In which we assist in taking care of the children. This year we have helped take care of a group of 75 kids and last year a total of 91.
